I know that i will keep using the Igoogle page. I have set it as my home page at home and think it is way better than nine msn or any of those other home pages. What was unexpected was that i laurent a few new things and a few good websites.

I have just got Microsoft office 2008 and have installed it of my computer at home. I think that it is good that they offer you the choice of keeping Microsoft office 2003 on your machine and have 2008 on there as well. I think that having the two versions on there is great. It allows me to go back and use the older version if i don't fully understand how to use the new one. I think that they should have done this with Windows Vista. It would have been allot better if they gave you the option to have a dual boot of Windows XP and Vista. I know that you can have a dual boot of them but now where in the installation did it give you the option. I think the new features on Microsoft office 2008 are really good. Some of them make life so much easier and making a word document so much faster. I know that some people don't like change but i would recommend this to everyone and if you are not happy with it then you have the option to go back to 2003.

Web 2.0 award winners

I looked at Istart because from the small note on the side it looked interesting. This tool helps people track your health and fitness regime. The person enters in there workouts into iStats' system and it monitor there progress. I think they should make it so you can download it to a PDA or something small so you can take it around with you so you don’t have to get to a computer and type it in. I think the most useful feature was the part where is shows you a graph of how you are going.

My understanding of web 2.0 is a new and improved version of the world wide web. It is the making of hosted websites and applications. For example social networking sites, video sites, wiki sites, blog sites and a few more.

Twitter

I think that twitter is pretty much like MySpace but has a few differences. One difference is that instead of writing a comment on your friends page you do it on your own and then your friend comes and has a look at your page and writes something about it on there page. Friends can restrict access to who ever they want.

Image generators

I think this website was great http://www.imagegenerator.org/. I got to make my own magazine cover with my picture on the front page. It was so easy to use and it looked so really.

Igoogle

This site is really good. I have made it my home page. I like they way that you can have all your favorite links on the side and that it also tells you the weather and the latest news. I think google should space it out a bit more. I am used to seeing google's home page and it has barely anything on it. I think they need to move a few things down the page to space it out.

Google docs

I think google docs is god but it will only benefit people that don’t have Microsoft office. Personally i would rather use Microsoft office just because it lets you do allot more with it.

Google maps

I think google maps is one of the best street directory's going around. I think that it is excellent that when you type in the address of there you want to go it shows you where on the street it is. I think it is also good that it also shows you the quickest root to when you want to go when you type in where you are coming from and i also like it how you can change the root. The best thing on this is that you can have a look at the house or factory of that you are going to so you don’t have to look out for little numbers on letterboxes now you can just look out for the house or factory.

Podcasts & vodcasts

I had a look at a few audio and video clips on a few websites that i found on google. I downloaded Itunes and had a look at there podcast section. I found out that they have over 100,000 video and audio clips that you can download.

Edit a wiki

To edit the wiki i had to go to the link that was given to me. I then had to create an account to edit the wiki. After creating the account i clicked on the favorite blog tab on the side on the website. I clicked easy edit to edit the wiki and to add my URL of this blog.

For this activity i went and had a look at wikipedia. I had a look at a few articles that had been posted on there. I found that wikipedia is very restricted with what people can add to there website. Wikis can be used by student doing an assignment together and adding notes on there. Then the student can add or change them when ever they want and this is also good because then the students don’t have to be at school to do there assignment.

For this activity i had to have a look at a website that bookmarks links to other websites. I think this would be really good for research because teachers and students can put likes to good websites on it and another students or teachers can go to them. I think this it a really good way to share websites with other people.

Social networking

i created a myspace account because i don’t like facebook at all. After creating an account i upload photos and some information about myself. After doing this i created a URL so that people can find me. When i did this i gave my URL to some of my work friends and some people from tafe. They added me to there myspace and i accepted them. After doing this i then had a look at their myspace and pictures.

Explore Slideshare

For this activity i had to have a look around slideshare. I think slideshare was easy to use and very user friendly. I found a few slideshows on how to load windows server 2008. Slideshare can be useful in class by the teacher uploading a slide show to the website. After the teacher does this then the students can access the slideshow in class and go threw it together rather than use a projector. Or the teacher can have notes on it and the students can look at it at home.

Investigate youtube

I went onto the youtube website and had a look at a few video clips. I found this clips that has a bit of a relation you my cores but this seamed like a good one to look up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wn7KcShbqOM. I think that youtube is well presented and is very user friendly. I like the way that there is allot of white space and that is not clustered with allot of icons and adds.

Play with Flickr

This activity i had to go to the flickr website and have a look around. After doing this i had to create an account and then make a URL. My URL is http://www.flickr.com/photos/anthonyfeher/. I then uploaded a picture from my desktop and set it as public. After setting it public i then gave it a tag called learningWeb2.0. I typed in that URN in my browser just to make sure it worked.

Comment on a blog post

For this activity i had to make a blog on google reader and so did james. I went to Your stuff and typed a few words this the space provided. I then clicked post note. After doing this i went to Friends shared items and comment his note. After doing this i clicked on shared items a i found that james's note and my comment was on there.

Subscribe to blogs

This activity i downloaded an oplm file of the task 5 website to my desktop. After this i went to google reader website. I then had to find a link called Manage subscriptions that took me a wile but then i found it in the bottom left hand corner of the website. After clicking on this Import/Export that took me to a new page. I then added the file on my desktop and uploaded it. After doing this i went back to my google reader home page and i had found that i have got news and tafe links on the left hand side of the website.

Create an RSS reader account

For this activity i used my gmail account and logged onto google reader. I added james to my account and then he added me. I copied an article off the herald sun and put it in my shared items folder. James then loged into his account and had a look at the article.

Create a blog and register it

For this activity i crated a blog on blogger.com. To do this i had to create a gmail account and then i used the gamil email address to creat the gmail account. I then set a simple layout for my blog.

Extend your browser

For this activity i watched a five minute video on add ons onto your browser. I installed google toolbar, yahoo toolbar and msn toolbar for the search toolbars. For the add ons i installed shockwave and flash player.

Read about the program

Today i had a read about what we have to do for assignment 2. I know and understand a few of the sites and programs we have to use. For example blogging, wikis, podcasting, online applications, video and image hosting sites.
